The 32nd Anniversary of Elvis Presley passing away leaves us with many memories from the people that knew him best, here is a list of just a few.
The Band
Joe Guercio (musical director & conductor); TCB Band members James Burton (lead guitar), Glen D. Joe Esposito
Joe was Elvis' road manager and was foreman of the Elvis entourage. He worked for Elvis from 1960 to 1977. His nickname is "TCB Joe" and"Diamond Joe" and was a pallbearer at the Kings Funeral.Joe Esposito has always been one of the best known "Memphis Mafia" members, and a sought after VIP at Elvis events throughout North America, and, indeed, the world. However, very shortly, he will be involved in a new venture -- moving from California to Las Vegas, and becoming “Casino Host” at the Wynn Resort, owned by Las Vegas businessman and entrepreneur, Steve Wynn (whom Elvis also knew and liked).
D.J. Fontana
D.J. Fontana was Elvis' drummer on stage 1955-61 and in recording sessions from 1956 through much of the 1960s. He also performed in Elvis' television guest appearances 1956-60, in several of his movies and in Elvis' 1968 television special. He met Elvis at the louisiana hayride.
The Imperials
The Imperials were among the vocalists who worked with Elvis on his How Great Thou Art album in 1966. They also backed him on stage from 1969 to late 1971 and did backing vocals for his Grammy-winning gospel album He Touched Me and other studio recordings and live concert recordings during that period. There were personnel changes within the group over the years. The members known for performing on stage with Elvis are Terry Blackwood, Greg Gordon, Armond Morales, Joe Moscheo, Jim Murray and Roger Wiles. Sherman Andrus began work with The Imperials after their time with Elvis, but joined in with the group's ongoing friendship with him. As of 2005, there is an active Imperials group with Sherman Andrus, Terry Blackwood, Gus Gaches and Joe Moscheo.
The Jordanaires
The Jordanaires were Elvis' primary male back-up vocal group from 1956 to the end of the 1960s. They worked with Elvis in the recording studio, on stage and in his movies. Visit their official web site to learn more.
George Klein
George Klein is a popular Memphis entertainment and media personality. He and Elvis began a lifelong friendship while attending Humes High School together. George does not have his own web site, but he does present a weekly radio program, The Elvis Hour with George Klein, on 98.1 FM in Memphis on Sundays at 7:00 AM CDT. He also has a local television program, Memphis Sounds with George Klein, seen on WYPL-TV (Channel 18) Wednesdays at 7:00 PM, Fridays at 4:00 PM and Sundays at 9:30 AM. He is also on Sirius Radio.
Scotty Moore
Scotty Moore was Elvis' lead guitarist on stage 1954-61 and in the studio from Elvis' first recordings in 1954 through much of the 1960s. He also performed in Elvis' television guest appearances 1956-60, in several of his movies and in Elvis' 1968 television special. In 2000, he was among the first group of musicians inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their new "sidemen" category.

The Memphis Mafia is the nickname given to the group of men who were with Elvis Presley everyday from 1956 until the day he died on August 16, 1977.
There were eight original members; although at times, they numbered between four and thirteen. The core group of original guys (Sonny West, Red West, Billy Smith, Marty Lacker, and Lamar Fike) was considered to be the closest to Elvis and became his confidants throughout the years. Elvis coined the phrase for the Memphis Mafia called "Taking Care of Business".
Jerry Schilling
Jerry Schilling the youngest member of Elvis' Memphis Mafia -- a mixture of friendship, Elvis support system and Elvis bodyguard unit -- also has been a music manager, a film editor, TV and documentary producer and president of the Memphis and Shelby County Music Commission. "Me and a Guy Named Elvis", is his latest book.
Larry Geller
Larry Geller (August, 1940) Geller became Elvis’ personal hairdresser in 1964 after he got a telephone call requesting that he go to Elvis’ Bel Air home to attend to the King needs. Larry was then hired as Elvis’ personal stylist replacing Sal Orfice Before long Larry became more than employee after he introduced Elvis to spiritualism and parapsychology, religion and the supernatural.
J.D. Sumner & The Stamps Quartet
J.D. Sumner & The Stamps Quartet were Elvis' male backing vocal group from 1971 to 1977. Mr. Sumner's friendship with Elvis began in the 1950s, when Sumner, then a member of The Blackwood Brothers Quartet, started letting the starry-eyed, often broke, teenage Elvis in for free at the gospel sings regularly staged at Ellis Auditorium in Memphis. During the years J.D. Sumner & The Stamps Quartet worked with Elvis, members, along with J.D. Sumner, at times included: Bill Baize, Tony Brown, Ed Enoch, Ed Hill, Dave Rowland, Richard Sterban, Donnie Sumner, Larry Strickland and Ed Wiedman. The home page for the birthplace of Rock `N Roll. Sun Studios recording studio is where Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Charlie Rich and others recorded some of their earliest hits. Sam Phillips founded Sun Records. Sam Phillips is not just one of the most important producers in rock history.
